Back in 1980, John’s wife sent him downtown to Hunt’s health food store to get peanut butter. John came back with more than just peanut butter; he bought the store! And so John Edwards Market came into being. Since then John has navigated the market to become one of the cornerstone businesses of Downeast Maine.
John Edwards Market sells both health and gourmet products including vitamins, imported cheeses, and fine wines to an ever-expanding group of loyal customers.
Little known, and so pleasantly surprising, is the store’s art gallery. The Wine Cellar Art Gallery shows paintings and sculpture by world-class Maine artists both downstairs in the gallery proper and upstairs along the walls of the market.
Come see for yourself, and enjoy a memorable experience.
